  1. Reelless is coming to Chrome

Reelless will be two things: the Android app for your phone, and a Chrome extension for your computer. Work on the extension has started alongside the app.

    The extension will:

    • Hide Shorts, Reels and recommendation feeds on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit and LinkedIn.
    • Offer the same controls as the app: Search-only YouTube, Friends-first Facebook, keyword filters, schedules and allowances.
    • Use the same signed detection rules as the app, run only on the sites you enable, and load no remote code.
    • Work fully without an account. Like the app, it won't block ads.

There's no iPhone version planned — Apple doesn't let apps act inside other apps. If you use an iPhone, the Chrome extension can still help on your computer.

You can now choose Android, Chrome or both when you join early access.

  2. The website is live

The Reelless website is up. You can now join early access and read exactly how the app works before it ships.

    • Waitlist with double opt-in — we'll email you once when the app is ready.
    • Honest pages for every supported app, starting with YouTube Shorts.
    • Guides on cutting short-form video without quitting apps.
    • English and Bengali, with more languages planned.
  3. Android: the foundation is in place

The groundwork of the Android app is done. None of it is visible yet, but everything else is built on top of it:

    • Accessibility Service skeleton — listens only to the apps you choose to protect, with debounced events so it stays light on battery.
    • Rules engine — a versioned, signed rule format, so detection can adapt when apps change their layouts without collecting anything from your phone.
    • Action executor and overlays — the pieces that press back or draw a calm cover over a Reels shelf, with safeguards against loops.
    • Onboarding — a step-by-step setup that explains the Accessibility permission in plain language before asking for it, plus phone-specific battery tips.

Next: detection rules for each platform (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and more), then controls and stats.
